Overview

Before joining Coffey Modica, Amiah was an associate and trial attorney in New York. There, she appeared at administrative hearings, conducted depositions, and drafted legal documents, including memorandums of law, appeals, and summations. Her experience includes claim analysis, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.

During law school at Roger Williams University School of Law, Amiah participated in the Business Start-Up Clinic and Corporate/Government Counsel Externship Clinic, where she completed contracts and bylaw agreements, advised on trademark and copyright along with other intellectual property issues for local entrepreneurs and aided in litigation preparation and drafted policy documents for state regulations. She held a summer fellowship with the National Sea Grant Law Center, focusing on ocean, coastal, and Great Lakes laws, emphasizing issues facing Indigenous and underrepresented communities. As a legal attachment to the Antigua & Barbuda Department of Marine Services and Merchant Shipping, she worked on policy management and UN regulations of SIDs. She was president of the Black Law Student Association, was a pro bono student leader, and participated in the North Eastern Regional Black Law Student Association Trial team.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Amiah has volunteered with the Legal Aid Society of Mid New York, Brooklyn Defender Services, and the Sugar Law Center. She is also actively involved in community service, including founding Project One and serving as vice president of IGNITE at G&F Financial Group.
