Payten earned her J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she served as a staff editor for the Cardozo Journal of Equal Rights and Social Justice and participated in the Tech Startup Clinic. She also holds a B.A. in Communication Studies and Sociology, cum laude, from the University of Georgia.
