Schuyler Swanton is an Associate in the firm’s Florida office, where he focuses his practice on insurance defense and complex civil litigation. He represents clients throughout all stages of litigation, from discovery and motion practice through hearings and trial preparation, and is known for his strong advocacy, disciplined work ethic, and practical approach to problem-solving.

Overview

Prior to joining Coffey Modica, Schuyler developed a diverse litigation background across insurance defense, veterans’ disability law, civil rights, and criminal defense matters. He most recently served as a VA-accredited attorney, where he managed a substantial caseload of disability claims and appeals, conducted evidentiary development, drafted legal briefs, and appeared at hearings before the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Board of Veterans’ Appeals. Earlier in his career, he worked in insurance defense litigation, conducting depositions, drafting dispositive motions, and appearing in state court.

Schuyler also brings a strong foundation of leadership and service from his prior military career. He served honorably in the United States Navy as a Master-at-Arms, where he trained and supervised security personnel, ensured compliance with military justice and training standards, and supported critical defense operations during an overseas deployment.

He earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad College of Law, where he received multiple academic honors, including CALI Book Awards in Legal Research and Writing. Swanton holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, cum laude, from Saint Leo University. Schuyler is admitted to practice in the State of Florida.
