She also worked for the New York City Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), where she handled a large caseload of highly emotional matters and appeared in court daily for trials, hearings, and conferences. She regularly drafted subpoenas, filed motions and prepared witnesses. This position gave her practical on-the-job training for triaging matters and diffusing high-stress situations that often occur with high exposure cases.

During law school, Ashley sought out internships that would prepare her for a career in litigation, where she was able to hone her legal writing and research skills. She interned for the Hon. Steven C. Mannion, Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, Division of Law, and Legal Aid Society, as well as others.
